About IAHSA

How we started

IAHSA was founded in 1994 by an international group of leaders who realized that the global ageing crisis would have a profound impact on our earth's elders.

Their vision was to create a platform for policymakers, researchers, business and ageing services providers to collectively share their knowledge and best practices to enhance quality of care for the elderly.

Over the years IAHSA has created an international forum for the exchange of research, services, products and training that make up the Global Ageing Network.

The Global Ageing Network

IAHSA represents the interests of more than 20,000 ageing services providers world wide who serve almost 5 million elderly every day in nearly 30 countries:Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong (SAR), India, Israel, Ireland, Japan, Malta, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States of America.

Our provider members are representative of all ownership types including for profit, not-for-profit and governmental. Many of our provider members are part of IAHSA Chapters but we also welcome individual provider organizations.

IAHSA's Global Ageing Network is also home to our Global Industry Partners, business members, university researchers, government agencies, educators and individuals interested in global ageing.
