IAHSA Staff Exchange Network

The IAHSA Staff Exchange Network facilitates visits between IAHSA members who provide care and services for the elderly. IAHSA provides links between facilities to orchestrate staff educational visits. Benefits to participants include:

  • Increased understanding of international initiatives and cultural challenges in providing care for the elderly;
  • Enhanced staff development and learning;
  • Increased esteem of workforce through participation; and
  • Increased retention of quality leadership staff.

The Staff Exchange Network was recently highlighted in our American chapter's magazine. Read the full story.

How it WorksThe programme is designed for leadership development of staff. Participating facilities will determine the best mode for sharing expenses. Typically, the host facility takes responsibility for all expenses for visitors on site, including lodging, meals, and ground transportation, usually using facility guest rooms and dining operations. Translation services, if needed, may also be provided by the host. The visiting organization is usually responsible for travel to and from the site.

Both candidates and sponsors need to be clear about the conditions on which staff exchanges will occur well in advance of the exchange. Questions about travel expenses, housing accommodations and costs, etc., must be clearly defined in advance to ensure that the exchange program operates efficiently.

IAHSA serves only as a clearinghouse for opportunities; potential candidates and sponsors should contact participating organizations to arrange an exchange.
